DESCRIPTION:Learn about the lives and legacies of two of Bucks County’s most prominent and influential artists and humanitarians as you tour the former homes of Pearl S. Buck and Oscar Hammerstein. Guests of this one-day double feature will have the option of beginning at either the Pearl S. Buck House or the Oscar Hammerstein House in the morning with a visit to the other in the afternoon. \nPearl S. Buck House\, Hilltown\nPearl S. Buck was a Pulitzer and Nobel Award-winning author\, a humanitarian\, and an activist. On our Life & Legacy Tour\, a traditional biographic tour of her home\, now a National Historic Landmark museum\, visitors will learn about the life and legacy of this remarkable woman. \nA rich\, mostly intact collection makes guests feel as if they are visiting the house in the time Ms. Buck and her family lived there. Objects from the ordinary (a closet full of board games played by the family) to the extraordinary (the typewriter Ms. Buck used to write The Good Earth) add to the fascinating experience. Other interesting items include rare artwork from around the world\, period furnishings\, personal clothing\, and a library stocked with hundreds of books (including those by her favorite author\, Charles Dickens). \nOscar Hammerstein House\, Doylestown\nTour Highland Farm\, Oscar Hammerstein’s home and creative epicenter. This tour includes riveting stories about Hammerstein’s musical family\, how his groundbreaking musicals forever changed modern day book-musical\, and additional insight into his contributions to society through his many humanitarian acts\, such as Pearl S.
