SUMMARY:High School Global Leadership Program
DESCRIPTION:The Global Leadership Program\, for high school students from grades 9 through 11\, is designed to help teens and young adults become better students\, college applicants\, and global citizens. Participants put their newly acquired skills to use working collaboratively on a service project of their choice\, with proceeds donated toward Pearl S. Buck International’s mission and work. \nThe cost of this program includes two weeks of instruction by a PA state certified teacher\, supplies\, daytime snacks for students\, and a graduation event.

DESCRIPTION:Pearl S. Buck International’s High School Global Leadership Program will be hosting a “Kites for Kids” fundraiser on August 1 from 4 to 8 pm on the grounds of the Pearl S. Buck Estate. Bring your family and friends and join us for a fun evening of kite flying and decorating\, food\, raffles\, a bonfire\, and more! The first 25 kids who register are guaranteed a kite to fly and decorate. You are also welcome to bring your own kites from home! Proceeds from this fundraiser will support Pearl S. Buck International health programs and projects serving children living in orphanages in Vietnam.

DESCRIPTION:Pearl S. Buck International is thrilled to announce that Kim In-soon\, known professionally as Insooni\, has been selected as the 2025 Woman of Influence Award honoree. \nInsooni is an award-winning R&B and Gospel singer as well as a humanitarian and an advocate for young people of mixed race and multicultural backgrounds. Born to a South Korean mother and African-American father following the Korean War\, she was raised by her mother\, who received assistance from Pearl S. Buck International’s child sponsorship program. \nIn addition to her longstanding first-hand connection to the work and mission of Pearl S. Buck International\, Insooni also embodies the humanitarian\, cross-cultural\, and advocacy legacy of Pearl S. Buck. She overcame deep societal racial discrimination to become a success in the music industry and a household name in her home country and in 2023\, she was appointed by Prime Minister Han Duck-soo to the Multicultural Youth Families Support Council as an advocate for multicultural and mixed-race middle and high school students. \nInsooni also currently serves as a board member for Pearl S. Buck Foundation Korea\, an affiliate of Pearl S. Buck International. \nWe are thrilled that Insooni will be able to attend the Woman of Influence Dinner and Award Ceremony\, and will perform and accept her award in-person.
