Preventing Covid-19 for Disadvantaged Orphans–Vietnam
Location: Hanoi, Vietnam
Beneficiaries: 501 children living in seven orphanages as well as community members
Background:
The Covid-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide and presents an unprecedented challenge to public health, food systems and the world of work. There have been recent outbreaks and a rise in cases in some Asian countries such as Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and India. Due to its location in Asia, Vietnam is at risk of recurring outbreak of Covid-19. Because the children in the orphanage are vulnerable groups who live in poverty conditions, there is a high potential for them to get the disease. Moreover, they often take part in community activities such as attending school and playing sports, putting them and community members at risk of getting and spreading Covid-19. Therefore, protecting them from the Covid-19 pandemic becomes extremely important. Providing face masks, hand sanitizer, antibacterial and antiviral soaps and private label water bottles is necessary to contribute to the health and safety for the children in the orphanage.
Project Goal
Provide face masks, hand sanitizer, antibacterial soaps, and clean water to children in seven orphanages who are an at-risk population of getting and spreading Covid-19. Educate the children and the surrounding community on the consequences of Covid-19 and how to protect themselves and others against it.
