A National Historic Landmark Museum
"Where History and Humanitarianism Meet"
The Pearl S. Buck House, a National Historic Landmark museum in Bucks County, PA, was the home of Pearl S. Buck and her family. The beautiful and iconic Bucks County stone farmhouse contains a rich, intact collection from the extraordinary (the typewriter on which she wrote The Good Earth) to the ordinary (a closet full of board games her family played).
The grounds of the estate also contain Pearl S. Buck’s gravesite, Green Hills Farm Arboretum, greenhouses, award-winning gardens, Cultural Center (a former barn where Ms. Buck held community events), the Estate Pavilion (which houses special events and weddings), and the Welcome Center (which contains the International Gift Shop, the Exhibit Gallery, the Conference Conference and Event Center, and the offices of Pearl S. Buck International).
Mission of the Pearl S. Buck House
The Pearl S. Buck House will continue the legacy of Pearl S. Buck through preservation, interpretation, storytelling, and dialogue, linking the past to the present, to engage diverse audiences, while educating, inspiring, and empowering visitors to become active citizens and humanitarians.

The Pearl S. Buck House will inspire every visitor, through story and dialogue, to take action and make our world a better place.

The Pearl S. Buck House Is In Urgent Need of Your Help
Fall 2026
After enduring last year's severe winter of heavy snow and ice, the historic Pearl S. Buck House Museum has suffered an unfortunate setback. This summer a section of the museum's ceiling unexpectedly collapsed, causing damage to artifacts in our collection and the interior of this treasured landmark and threatening our ability to preserve and share Pearl S. Buck's remarkable legacy.
While the damage was ultimately caused by the harsh winter conditions, the collapse itself did not occur until months later and our insurance claim has been denied, leaving us responsible for the full cost of repairs and restoration – estimated at $70,000 by the historic house architect we brought in to assess the damage. And with winter approaching yet again, it must be done as soon as possible.
For generations, the Pearl S. Buck House has stood as a place of history, education, and inspiration. Visitors from around the world come here to learn about Pearl's groundbreaking humanitarian work, her literary achievements, and her enduring message of compassion and understanding. In 2012, the Pearl S. Buck House underwent a major preservation/restoration campaign to ensure visitors could continue to experience Pearl’s legacy through her home. Unfortunately, with weather as harsh as we’ve had, this historic home needs our help again.
The most urgent needs are:
- Stabilize and repair the damaged roof and ceiling
- Protect the museum's historic interiors and collections
- Preserve public access to this important cultural landmark
- Ensure that future generations can continue to experience Pearl S. Buck's legacy
No gift is too small to help. Every contribution brings us closer to restoring the museum and protecting this irreplaceable piece of history. If Pearl S. Buck's mission and legacy have touched your life in any way, we hope you will stand with us during this challenging moment.
Your generosity today will help ensure that this historic home remains a beacon of hope, education, and cultural understanding for years to come.
