Emergency Appeal to Help Children and Families Facing Escalating Violence and Displacement in Thailand

Dear Friends and Supporters of Pearl S. Buck International,

I have upsetting news to share about our affiliate staff and children who are a part of our international program in Thailand—who you help support through your generosity to and involvement with all our work and programs at home and abroad.

Since July 25, armed clashes have erupted between Thai and Cambodian military forces along the Thailand border. One of the border provinces affected is Ubon Ratchathani, where Pearl S. Buck Foundation Thailand serves people living in 12 districts—putting our children and families directly in the line of fire and in need of immediate emergency help.

This high-risk zone has been especially hard-hit, and the situation remains tense and dangerous, with the clashes ongoing. Many of the families we serve have been forced to evacuate the region. What they have left behind due to this violence is not just their homes, livelihoods, and everyday necessities—but their security and peace of mind.

We are so thankful for your past support—but your help is desperately needed now! The increased hardship in Thailand at this moment for the children and families we serve is urgent and life-threatening and we are asking those of you who are able, to please help us even more right now.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 ASAP. It sounds like a small amount, but it will go so far to help the children and families in our Thailand program survive this sudden and violent upheaval in their lives.

Your donation today will help provide:

• Dry food and clean water for our displaced families

• Bedding, blankets, and mosquito repellent spray/cream

• Adult diapers (for bedridden and elderly persons) and feminine hygiene products

• Baby diapers and milk powder for small children

• Medical evacuation for the seriously injured to safe hospitals

• Flashlights and batteries

We are grateful for any donation you can make to support these children and families in need in their time of crisis. You can help today by going to https://pearlsbuck.org/donation/ or by clicking the button above.

From the bottom of our hearts here at Pearl S. Buck International, we thank you for your generosity and your compassion in this time of urgent need.

Gratefully,

Cheryl A. Castro
