Vocational Training for Alternative Learning System Students – Philippines
Location: Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, and Ormoc City, Philippines
Beneficiaries: 25 Alternative Learning System students
Background:
Alternative Learning System works along side the regular education system in the Philippines to serve students who have either aged out or dropped out of school, migrants, working Filipinos, and indigenous peoples. ALS plays a crucial role in providing education for those who have been left out of the traditional schooling system. ALS is congruent with Pearl S. Buck Foundation Philippines’ vision of a “Brighter Future for Filipino Children Through Education,” which goes beyond formal education.
Project Goal
Provide the opportunity for 50 ALS graduates to pursue vocational courses for one year. Studying health care, IT and technology, trades and construction, business and office administration, hospitality and culinary arts and other trade avenues can change their lives and give them a brighter future.
