A National Historic Landmark Museum
The Pearl S. Buck House, a National Historic Landmark museum in Bucks County, PA, was the home of Pearl S. Buck and her family. The beautiful and iconic Bucks County stone farmhouse contains a rich, intact collection from the extraordinary (the typewriter on which she wrote The Good Earth) to the ordinary (a closet full of board games her family played).
The Pearl S. Buck House, known as Green Hills Farm, offers a variety of educational programs for k-12 students. The museum is one of a few National Historic Landmarks committed to preserving the legacy of a woman with an intact personal collection. Programs meet Pennsylvania Standards and can be tailored or customized to educator needs. Programs are available Tuesday-Friday, year-round. Public, private, and home schools welcome.

The Pearl S. Buck House will continue the legacy of Pearl S. Buck through preservation, interpretation, storytelling, and dialogue, linking the past to the present, to engage diverse audiences, while educating, inspiring, and empowering visitors to become active citizens and humanitarians.

The Chinese Children Next Door
Theme: Family and Multiculturalism
A mother tells her children a story from her childhood in China about the family next door who had 6 daughters but longed for a son. Based on Pearl Buck’s own experience as a child growing up in China, the story introduces readers to Chinese culture.
Mrs. Starling's Problem
Theme: Problem-Solving
After having settled her eggs in a new nest, Mrs. Starling find that she has grown too fat to get into the next to feed her growing chicks. Pearl Buck wrote this story for her grandson’s nature club based on the story of a real set of birds who built a nest under her roof.
The Big Fight
Theme: Family, Multiculturalism
Set in India, this is a story of a boy and his bond with a tiger. His father, a circus owner, makes a deal to sell the tiger to Americans making a movie. Inspired by true events.
Little Fox in the Middle
Theme: Empathy, Friendship
Middle Fox could not get his siblings to play with him, so he ran away to find a friend. He began to get hungry and in search of food, the fox found people playing music. The fox was afraid of people but overcame his fears and made friends. This is a story of empathy and understanding.
A Day on the Farm
Learn about Green Hills Farm with a focus on themes of community and urban/rural life. See Pearl Buck’s 1800s farmhouse, learn about the dairy farm and see an original milk house. Activities include a puppet show of Pearl Buck's book The Chinese Storyteller and hands-on activities.
