Batteries for Electric Bikes for Orphans – Vietnam
Location: Vietnam
Beneficiaries: Children living in Tay Dang Orphanage
Background:
All the children living with HIV currently being cared for and nurtured at Tay Dang Orphanage come from special backgrounds, with unstable health conditions. At present, the orphanage has 8 children attending secondary school, 5 children in high school, and 4 children enrolled in vocational schools in the local area. Each day, the journey to and from school (four trips daily) covers a distance of nearly 40 kilometers. As there are no convenient bus routes available, the children must rely on electric bicycles for daily transportation. This daily journey is a heavy burden for the children because of their fragile health and the lack of sufficient, reliable means of transportation. With the very limited funding provided by the government to cover only the most basic needs of the children—such as food, clothing, and medical care, education so the orphanage does not have enough resources to provide them with safe and effective school transportation. If the battery on their electric bike dies, they cannot get to school.
Project Goal
Provide batteries for electric bikes to ensure children with weak constitutions and facing many health issues have reliable and safe transportation to and from school.

Specific Objectives
- Ensure consistent school attendance and safe transportation for children with HIV: providing reliable batteries so children can go to school every day without interruptions caused by transportation issues.
- Protect children’s health: preventing physical exhaustion from pushing broken bicycles and avoid delays that cause them to miss meals or medication.
- Foster independence and confidence: reliable transportation encourages children to manage their own school routine, strengthening their sense of responsibility and self-reliance.
- Encourage social integration: attending school regularly allows children to build friendships, develop social skills, and feel more connected to the community.
