Celebrating Recent Filipino College Graduates

Graduates 2022 In 1 Frame 1

Pearl S. Buck Foundation Philippines, whose primary mission focuses on education and keeping children in school to better their lives and lift themselves and their families out of
poverty saw 10 sponsored children graduate from college in 2022. These successful graduates started as sponsored children while in elementary school. Throughout their more than a decade of sponsorship, each of them has chased their dreams to pursue and finish
a college degree, knowing that this path will truly change their lives. In a country where children and teens are often tempted by the false promises of money and freedom from the sex industry, keeping these at-risk young people in school is the first step on the
path to a better life; continuing on to and graduating from college sets up young adults for an even brighter future. All the graduates have realized their hopes and dreams of a college degree thanks to the generosity of their sponsors, who saw their potential and chose to continue supporting them past high school.

Half of this year’s college graduates earned Bachelor of Science in Education degrees in English, Filipino, General Science, and Elementary Education. The rest of the graduates earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Information Technology, Tourism Management, Hospitality Management, Entrepreneurial Management, and Financial Management. They came from all the areas served by Pearl S. Buck Foundation Philippines—Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, and Ormoc City, Leyte.

In addition, Danica A. Literato graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Entrepreneurial Management, and Cherrie Ann A. Montes graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Tourism Management. Pearl S. Buck Foundation Philippines is proud of all of these graduates and know their sponsors from Pearl S. Buck International who contributed to their extraordinary achievements and share in their joy.

These graduates will automatically become new Pearl S. Buck Foundation members of the PSBP-Alumni Association that will launch when the Philippines celebrates its 20th anniversary as an independent affiliate of Pearl S. Buck International in August 2023.

Pearl S. Buck Foundation and this year’s graduates extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to their sponsors for supporting their dreams—thank you to all our child sponsors and donors for helping children, families, and communities lift themselves out of poverty and build a better future for generations to come.
