Pearl S. Buck International Hosts “A Day at the Arboretum” Family Event in Bucks County

Pearl S. Buck International invites families and community members to spend a morning exploring nature and learning about environmental stewardship during A Day at the Arboretum on Saturday, September 19, at Green Hills Farm Arboretum.

The program will offer age appropriate activities for children and an educational presentation for adults, providing opportunities for visitors to connect with the natural environment while exploring the arboretum.

Families with children ages 2-7 are invited to participate in a program from 10-11 a.m. featuring storytelling, a rain themed craft activity, a rain movement song, and yoga. Families with children ages 7-14 will participate in a science based, hands on lesson focused on water flow across land, water absorption, and land erosion. Participants will also take a walk through the arboretum to observe and analyze the presence of water on the landscape before concluding with yoga.

The suggested donation for the family program is $10 per family.

Adults are invited to attend The Penn State Master Watershed Steward Program from 11 a.m.-12 p.m., featuring Rebecca Hayden, President of the Watershed Coalition of the Lehigh Valley and co-founder of the Master Watershed Steward Program.

During the program, Hayden will discuss recent conservation projects in upper Bucks County and ways community members can become involved in local environmental resource efforts.

The Penn State Master Watershed Steward Program has more than 1,100 volunteers working in communities throughout Pennsylvania to improve the health of streams, rivers, and other natural resources. The program is open to people of all skills and abilities, and no prior watershed knowledge, experience, or training is required to take the Master Watershed Steward basic training course.

The suggested donation for the adult program is $20.
