Select Pieces from 60th Anniversary Fashion Exhibit to Continue on Display
A limited version of Pearl S. Buck International’s 60th anniversary exhibit, Hidden Gems: Fashioning a Legacy, will feature select pieces on display now through December in the historic Pearl S. Buck House, 520 Dublin Road, Perkasie, PA 198944.
If you missed the Hidden Gems exhibit, or if you are looking to see something new at the Pearl S. Buck House Museum, this is an exciting opportunity for you to come visit the estate this summer. Experience some of the most iconic and historically significant outfits and accessories in Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning writer, humanitarian, and activist Pearl S. Buck’s personal collection of American and Asian fashion, on display throughout the rooms of her former home. A woman well ahead of her time, Ms. Buck had a distinctive style. She had the opportunity to live in two vastly different cultures and carefully chose clothing and accessories to represent the two halves of herself and her life.
The fashions exhibited complement the distinct spaces within the historic farmhouse, serving as a vehicle to tell the story of Pearl S. Buck International’s work and impact since 1964. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Pearl Buck’s story and legacy in viewing her clothing in the spaces where it was once worn.
Along with learning about her distinctive personal style, visitors will understand the impact the foundation has had over 60 years and how they can continue Ms. Buck’s humanitarian, cross-cultural, and educational legacy. The fashion pieces on display will be available for viewing now through Festival of Trees this winter.
Pearl Buck’s rich, mostly intact collection includes rare artwork, period furnishings, and a library stocked with hundreds of books. Rooms in the house are now supplemented by Ms. Buck’s personal clothing and accessories, specifically chosen as they relate to her and Pearl S. Buck International’s humanitarian and activism work since 1964. Tours are available by reservation Tuesday through Sunday.
