Community Invited to Celebrate Opening of New Green Hills Farm Arboretum
Pearl S. Buck International invites all our friends, family, and neighbors to a community celebration and the official opening of our newly-accredited Green Hills Farm Arboretum on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 1-4 pm, 520 Dublin Road, Perkasie, PA 18944.
Green Hills Farm Arboretum, located at the historic estate of the Pearl S. Buck House, is part of a 67-acre National Historic Landmark property in Bucks County. Once the home of Nobel Prize–winning author and humanitarian Pearl S. Buck, the site today blends natural beauty, cultural history, and educational programming.
Originally purchased by Pearl S. Buck in 1934, and a farm property since 1714, Green Hills Farm served as her residence for over 40 years. During this time, she wrote many of her important works and pursued humanitarian efforts that would later shape the mission of Pearl S. Buck International. After her death, the property was preserved as a museum and cultural site. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1980.
The arboretum is part of the estate’s expansive grounds, which were made a preserved open space in 2009 by Bucks County. The grounds feature:
- Manicured gardens and natural landscapes
- Open lawns, wooded areas, and ponds
- Wildlife
- 57 varieties of trees
The grounds reflect both the working farm environment of Buck’s time and her appreciation for nature and gardening. Today, they serve as a peaceful setting for visitors to explore plant life, seasonal beauty, and outdoor wellness.
Guests at our Arboretum Opening Day will enjoy an opening ceremony, talks on plant life and nature, an ice cream truck, activities for kids and families, and nature walks. This event is free and open to the public. For more information, go to https://pearlsbuck.org/arboretum/.
