Advancing Global Education and Student Development in China
Over the past year, Chongshi Girls’ High School and Mao-Yisheng School continued to support students’ healthy development and bright futures through a range of programs and initiatives, made possible thanks to the generosity of Pearl S. Buck International sponsors and donors.
As the newly constructed section of the campus nears completion, daily life for students at Chongshi is returning to normal, with a growing number of outdoor activities taking place. The newly developed high school is a single story building, including a modern cafeteria, an indoor sports facility, as well as a sports complex.
Chongshi continues to focus on building a global, intercultural network for the students and teaching them about the wider world through international relationships with schools in Hong Kong, Spain, Taiwan, and Germany. Chongshi has effectively promoted exchange projects such as faculty and student visits to and from their international program partners and joint curriculum development, laying a solid foundation for the school’s further expansion of foreign cooperation and exchange practices.
Leveraging the “Pearl S. Buck Bridge of Humanities,” the “Mao Yisheng Bridge of Science and Technology,” and the “Global Alliance of Girls’ Schools Bridge of International Understanding,” and building upon the existing base of 27 partner schools (or institutions) across countries and regions, the school aims to provide more platforms and opportunities for mutual learning and exchange, establishing a mechanism for regular communication.
This international exchange is a program they hope to continue to grow in the next year and the near future. Chongshi hopes to add a new sister school in the United States to the program. These efforts will further enrich cross-cultural engagement and inject new vitality into the school’s ongoing international development.
In addition, over the course of the year students participated in a wide variety of activities, including visiting the Pearl S. Buck Museum and her former home, hosting a sports meet in the school’s brand new sports complex, and growing the Pearl S. Buck Reading Club.
The priority of Chongshi’s projects and programs has been to provide meaningful opportunities for all students to overcome challenges, develop a broad range of skills, and build a foundation for a better future.
