Providing Hope in Times of Crisis

Beyond Pearl S. Buck Foundation Thailand’s daily commitment to education and healthcare, there are times when communities face crises that demand an immediate response. Following the outbreak of violence along the Thailand-Cambodia border on July 25, 2025, more than 139,000 people were displaced across seven provinces. Families living near 12 Pearl S. Buck Foundation Thailand service areas in Ubon Ratchathani were among those forced to flee their homes, leaving behind schools, hospitals, and livelihoods as conflict spread through their communities.

With your support, Pearl S. Buck Foundation Thailand responded quickly to assist those most affected. Emergency aid provided essential supplies for elderly and bedridden individuals, medical assistance for those injured by conflict, and infant formula and hygiene products for pregnant women and new mothers who had lost nearly everything.

Recognizing the emotional toll of displacement, Pearl S. Buck Foundation Thailand also created opportunities for children to heal through mobile classrooms, art activities, and sports programs that transformed temporary shelters into spaces of learning, play, and hope.

On October 10 and December 13, 2025, Pearl S. Buck Foundation Thailand staff delivered “You matter…we care” relief bags to evacuation centers at Wat Chai Udom and Wat None Pho, reaching 1,931 beneficiaries. Families received warm clothing, emergency food, clean drinking water, educational materials, and supplies for local volunteers who worked tirelessly to support displaced families.

More than providing necessities, your support restored dignity and reassurance during a time of uncertainty. Because of you, mothers knew their babies would be fed, elderly individuals knew they had not been forgotten, and children were given the chance to learn, play, and simply be children despite the challenges surrounding them.

As communities continue their journey toward recovery, Pearl S. Buck Foundation Thailand is focusing on trauma healing and emotional resilience. Together, we are helping children and families move beyond fear, rebuild their confidence, and create a stronger future filled with hope and opportunity.
