PSBI Awarded PPL Foundation Grant to Expand DEI Projects

PPL Foundation Major Grant Recipient FB

Pearl S. Buck International is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $25,000 major grant from the PPL Foundation. These funds will support a regional diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) training conference for nonprofit and community leaders. At this conference, Pearl S. Buck International will facilitate discussions on DEI tenets, focused on best practices in general and specifically law enforcement, human resources and health care.

Pearl S. Buck International offers trainings and workshops to individual local businesses, organizations, police departments, and school districts through its Welcome Workplace program. Welcome Workplace, a DEI training program, provides strategic planning and education to help organizations establish an environment that embraces diversity and inclusion. Pulitzer and Nobel Prize-winning author, humanitarian, and social justice advocate Pearl S. Buck, the founder of Pearl S. Buck International, believed that “diversity is our strength,” and Welcome Workplace continues this branch of Buck’s legacy.

“I am so thankful to the PPL Foundation for recognizing and celebrating diversity, equity, and inclusion as the right thing to do,” noted Pearl S. Buck International President & CEO Anna Katz. She added, “This project creates affordable access for DEI regional training to non-profits and small business. It also showcases the benefits of multicultural awareness in the workplace. We are so grateful—what a great way to begin this holiday season of hope.”

The PPL Foundation awards annual grants through a competitive application and review process. During this highly competitive grant cycle, more than 120 applicants proposed projects for funding to the PPL Foundation. Pearl S. Buck International was one of 12 organizations to be selected for a grant.

“We are continuously inspired by the caring, commitment and creativity of the many nonprofit organizations such as Pearl S. Buck International who make a lasting difference in our communities, and this year’s grant recipients are no exception. We’re proud to support their efforts,” said Ryan Hill, PPL Foundation president.
