In-Person Film Screening & Discussion of “Walking While Black”
Pearl S. Buck International, The Peace Center, and the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office invite you to join us for an in-person film screening & discussion of the film Walking While Black: L.O.V.E. is the Answer. This event will be Thursday, May 5, 2022 from 6-8:30 pm at Pearl S. Buck International, 520 Dublin Road, Perkasie, PA 18944.
As minority communities face the daily stranglehold of racial profiling, and police officers face relentless scrutiny by an anxious public, tensions mount as lines are being drawn in the sand. The key to breaking this conflict is by finding common ground with each other. WALKING WHILE BLACK: L.O.V.E. Is The Answer presents proven action steps to bridge the painful gap between peace officers and the communities they serve.
The following pledge best describes the acronym L.O.V.E.: I pledge to LEARN about the people in my community, to unconditionally OPEN my heart to their needs as if they were all immediate family members, to VOLUNTEER to be part of the solution in their life during both good and challenging times, and to EMPOWER everyone I meet to do the same as if our lives depended on each other. This film features interviews with peace officers, faith leaders, educators, activists and others. It offers an inspiring blueprint to end racial profiling, promote racial equity, and heal our communities.
Due to scenes of graphic violence, this film is not appropriate for children. This event is free to attend and open to the public. Pre-registration is required and can be done on The Peace Center website at https://www.thepeacecenter.org/upcoming-events/wwb-love_psb/.
